Neera Skurky joined the Office of Counsel in May 2018. She advises Duke University and Duke University Health System on all types of legal issues involving faculty and staff employees.
Prior to joining Duke, Ms. Skurky was Associate University Counsel at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she worked closely with university administration on a wide variety of legal matters related to employment law, faculty governance and academic freedom, public records, open meetings, the First Amendment, and litigation. Before working at UNC-Chapel Hill, Ms. Skurky was in private practice as an employment lawyer in Atlanta, Georgia.
Ms. Skurky is from Brevard, North Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her law degree from Georgia State University School of Law. She has been admitted to the North Carolina Bar and the Georgia Bar.
