Michael (Mike) Schaefer joined the Duke University Office of Counsel in January 2023 where he advises Duke University on issues involving Business Transactions, Data, Privacy & Security, Intellectual Property, Technology, Data & Licensing, Real Estate, and Facilities & Construction.
Prior to joining the Office of Counsel, Mr. Schaefer worked in-house for multiple international companies advising on all aspects strategy and commercial operations. Prior to working in-house, Mr. Schaefer worked for regional and international law firms in North Carolina and Washington, D.C.
Mr. Schaefer received his undergraduate degree in History from the Davidson College in 2001, his master’s degree in History from the University of Virginia in 2004, and his law degree from University of Virginia School of Law in 2008.
