Lorna Maxwell joined the Duke University Office of Counsel in October 2023 where she advises Duke University and Duke University Health System (DUHS) on matters involving general healthcare transactions, contracts and related regulatory compliance issues.

Prior to joining the Office of Counsel, Ms. Maxwell served as Division Chief for the Clinical Contracting Services office of DUHS. In that role she managed a team of clinical contracting attorneys drafting, negotiating and finalizing clinical services agreements, and provided advice to leaders regarding the structure of business arrangements with external parties for the provision of administrative and clinical services.

Ms. Maxwell also has multiple years of experience from her practice of law in the private sector, which encompasses working for several large firms, and well as being a solo practitioner.

Ms. Maxwell received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Hobart & William Smith Colleges, her MHA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and her law degree from the Hofstra University School of Law.
