Kim Taylor is the Vice President and General Counsel of Duke University.  Ms. Taylor is responsible for leading the Office of Counsel’s legal team, which advises and represents Duke University and Duke University Health System on a wide variety of legal issues.  Prior to her September 2024 appointment at Duke, Ms. Taylor served as the Vice President and General Counsel of the University of Chicago. 

Prior to joining the University of Chicago, Ms. Taylor was an equity partner of a large global law firm, based out of their New York office, for 18 years. There she served as lead counsel to large buyout funds and private and public companies in a wide variety of transactions, ranging from leveraged buyouts, mergers, stock and asset acquisitions, recapitalizations, and private equity investments. Ms. Taylor also served as a partner at a Massachusetts law firm where she represented both for profit and not-for-profit clients in a broad range of transactions.
