Kim McWhorter joined the Duke University Office of Counsel in August 2020 where she advises Duke University and Duke University Health System on a wide range of healthcare operational, regulatory, and transactional matters focusing on telehealth, medical staff matters and credentialing, peer review, and procurement. She also has extensive experience in fraud and abuse, licensing, and scope of practice.
Prior to joining the Office of Counsel, Ms. McWhorter served as Associate General Counsel at Emory University, where she routinely advised healthcare and university senior leadership on regulatory and operational issues. Before joining Emory in 2018, Ms. McWhorter served as Vice President, Legal & Regulatory at MedZed, a telehealth start-up. From 2010-2016, Ms. McWhorter was in private practice at a leading domestic and international global law firm, where she worked on a variety of regulatory healthcare issues at both the state and federal levels.
Ms. McWhorter received her undergraduate degree from Duke University in 2003 and her Masters degree in Health Care and Policy Management from Emory University, Rollins School of Public Health in 2006. Ms. McWhorter received her law degree from Boston University School of Law in 2009. Before becoming a lawyer, she worked in clinical research at both Duke and Emory University.
