Elizabeth Ramirez-Washka joined the Duke University Office of Counsel in February 2023 where she advises Duke University and Duke University Health System on matters involving employment and labor law, employment litigation and regulatory compliance.
Prior to joining the Office of Counsel, Ms. Ramirez-Washka was Deputy General Counsel and Chief Diversity Officer for Boy Scouts of America, where she provided legal advice and strategic guidance on employment matters and was also accountable for developing and implementing diversity, equity and inclusion strategy for the organization.
Prior to working at Boy Scouts of America, Ms. Ramirez-Washka was Corporate Counsel Employment and Labor for a multinational corporation where she provided legal advice relating to the employment and labor practice of the corporation. Ms. Ramirez-Washka’s also has multiple years of experience from her practice of law in the private sector, healthcare sector and federal government, including the National Labor Relations Board.
Ms. Ramirez-Washka received her undergraduate degree in Science, Advertising from The University of Texas in 1987 and in Journalism in 1988. She received her law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1992.
