Deputy General Counsel

Mr. Lott serves as the Deputy General Counsel at Duke University.  In addition to providing leadership for the Office of Counsel, Mr. Lott advises on admissions, antitrust, athletics, harassment/discrimination, disability, diversity, financial aid, student and academic affairs, FERPA/privacy and Title IX.  He also manages complex civil litigation for the University and serves as the University’s Antitrust Compliance Officer.

Prior to joining the Office of Counsel in 2014, Mr. Lott worked at an international law firm in Washington D.C., where he represented universities, school districts, and other companies in the education sector. Mr. Lott is a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Duke University School of Law. In between, he served as a Team Leader in AmeriCorps* National Civilian Community Corps.
