Bill has been an Associate University Counsel with Duke University since 2010. Bill advises in a wide range of practice areas to support Duke’s international and out of state activities, including legal entity formation and compliance, employment, tax, real estate, privacy and compliance. Bill also advises on data privacy and a variety of other issues as needed.
Prior to joining Duke, Bill worked for the University of Washington where he practiced in international activity, finance, tax, business transactions, litigation, intellectual property and public records. From 1995 to 2001, with the Antitrust Division of the Washington Attorney General’s Office, Mr. Nicholson worked on a number of large antitrust and consumer protection cases, including tobacco and sweepstakes litigation. From 1990 to 1995, he worked in San Francisco as a trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice Antitrust Division, focusing on criminal prosecution.
Mr. Nicholson received a B.A. in economics from Syracuse University in 1985 and a J.D. (Magna Cum Laude) from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1990.
