Legal Fellow - Healthcare Risk Management

 

Aimee Roix joined the Duke University Office of Counsel in August 2022. She began working as a paralegal for Duke University Health System in October 2023 before completing law school and transitioning to a legal fellow position in April 2026. As a legal fellow, Ms. Roix represents the interests of Duke University, Duke University Health System, Duke Health Integrated Practice, and their medical providers in the management of medical professional liability and general liability investigations, claims, and litigation. 

Prior to joining Duke, Ms. Roix was in private practice as a litigation paralegal where she developed a diverse background in civil litigation, education, healthcare, research, family, and contract law. 

Ms. Roix received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from North Carolina State University with minors in History and English. She then went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude with her Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law’s Evening Program while working full time as a paralegal. Ms. Roix also earned a certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from NCCU Law’s Dispute Resolution Institute and was an active participant in NCCU Law’s Civil Litigation Clinic. While in law school, Ms. Roix served as President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society, President of the Student Bar Association’s Evening Council, and as a Staff Editor on the Law Review. 

Ms. Roix was selected to the 2025 Class of the American Arbitration Association’s Diverse Student ADR Summit in New York City and to the Inaugural Class of the American Bar Association’s Sports & Entertainment Law Mentorship Program.
