Alicia Gilleskie joined Duke in January of 2017. She advises Duke University and Duke University Health System on a variety of technology and intersecting regulatory matters, and provides primary legal support to Duke Health Technology Solutions (DHTS) as a member of their leadership team.
Prior to joining Duke’s Office of Counsel, Alicia was a Partner at Smith Anderson law firm in Raleigh, North Carolina. Alicia joined Smith Anderson in 2008, and during her time there, formed and led their Data Use, Privacy and Security practice, and co-chaired their Information Technology practice. A large portion of her practice has been dedicated to working with technology companies and users in regulated health care and life sciences environments. Before entering private practice, Alicia was Corporate Counsel with both LabCorp and Misys Healthcare Systems (now Allscripts).
Alicia graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1995 and from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1999. She is on the Board of Advisors for the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA), and serves on Privacy and Data Security Committees for the North Carolina Bar Association and the State Bar, working to establish a legal practice area specialization in data privacy and security law.
